Not connecting via droid device properly
« on: June 08, 2012, 06:43:15 am »
I know I talked to Tek about this a while ago, but I still can't seem to connect my droid device to AO TS, and when I do, I can't chance channels or anything because it has to shows me as a guest is all I can think. I have done what I was told IE copy info from client to encrypted document via SAFE email etc. but nothing has worked that would get me using it, also...do I need a new UID for my cell its self so I can connect to both devices w.o a problem or ...no? I have been trying this for months  nothing has worked. My phone is an HTC Evo 4G if that might mean anything...if there is any chance to help please let me know. I have done everything I was told, I goggled for help and everything...

Thanks in advanced

Try this: (excerpted form TS3 forums)
  • Open TS3
  • Open the Identities Window (Settings -> identities)
  • Select the UID you want to export
  • Cclick export
  • Save the file to your drive
  • Rename the file from [name].ini to [name].txt
  • Copy the file to the phone's memory (I connected via USB) You can also email it to yourself then save the attachement.
  • On the phone:
  • Open the file in a note editor, Simplenote is a good one.
  • Select and copy the text of the identity key between the "s
  • Open TeamSpeak 3 for Android
  • Click Identities
  • Click on Default
  • Click edit
  • Delete the key in there
  • Paste the key from the TXT file
  • Rename the Identity if you want.
I hope this helps, If not feel free to join me in the Tech Support channel and we try to get it to work.

Yea, we did this before and it didn't work and still doesn't....wasn't sure if its an issue with my Phone brand or whatnot

EDIT:
Did everything step-by-step I get this ever time:

ERROR:
failed connection initialization

EDIT 2:
for some reason, the phones can only grab on when I put this in as where i wanna connect thought it DOSEN'T go right to the chan, it does connect me: [cspacer1]Rimor Organizations/Why Is The Rum Gone (Omni) <~ since that's my org chan

Befores selecting a default channel lets first try to get you connected with the correct Identity.
It shouldn't matter which phone you have.
The connection error may be due to an invalid key. You have to be careful to copy it correctly. DO NOT Copy the Quotes from the ini file, make sure you have the = at the end (if present) and make sure there are no extra spaces at the beginning and end of the key.
I wish the Teamspeak developers would make an easier way to import the ini files on Androids. They made it easy for iPhone users. I guess they have to because the iPhone doesn't allow easy file browsing...
We'll figure it out....

I got it working now and the key is right, it even made my phone TS do this error that made like 1,000 "default" profiles and it would loop crash and i wouldn't be able to reopen and i would have to re-install....apparently there is these things:

[*spacer1] -
[cspacer0]

and I think that maybe might have been why it wasn't connecting I don't know, but what I do know is as soon as i added characters like that....it connected, then I tried to direct connect to my own room and it wouldn't work BUT....it at least connected me to the sever and I am happy about that...

Glad you got it working.   :D
It seems to me that you have discovered a bug in the Android TS client.
You should report it in the Teamspeak Android client forums.
